Wednesday's update

Today we:

got the long counter, the sink, the disposal and the microwave/vent hood installed. I have a stove, a fridge and a sink that all work (although the water pressure has gone all wonky)! All of this on top of a beyond belief gorgeous floor. All of the cupboards and counters on the west (back) wall are in.

The arrangement is the same, with sink and stove where they used to be--but now the sink is awesome, and there is a dishwasher between them!

I am still trying to figure out how to get the pictures off the camera onto the computer. I used to know how to do this--what happened to my brain?

  1. I can only imagine how exciting it would be to cook in there soon. I just envision myself in that situation thinking "I like it in here. I am just going to camp out for a while. I guess while I am here maybe I will try out that recipe I had been hearing about." For a moment I was going to mention that after you cook you have to clean up, but you suddenly have the dishwasher you never had! So even clean up is better!

What are you doing with your beloved metal cabinets? Did you just sand them down?

  2. Victor is wondering what colors everything is. I would really appreciated enlisting one of your children to help get the pictures up. I can't wait to see it. We need to schedule a visit.

  3. The beloved metal cabinets are going downstairs for a temporary (ie 10-12 years!) gig in the new improved laundry room (next year's project!). Eventually my plan is to get them professionally stripped and refinished and install them in my eventual new (ranch style, all one level, extra wide hallways and doors, good for retired people) house.

Currently the walls are the same weird green as the dining room--but that is only because we used the water/mold resistant drywall. Soon they will be painted a lovely soft yellow, with periwinkle trim.
